ABOUT THE BOOK

Integrative Psychotherapy's guiding principle is that the decisions made and beliefs formed during one's formative years continue to shape and influence one's perceptions, feelings and behaviors throughout life. Erskine and Moursund, both experienced psychotherapists, begin their discussion of integrative psychotherapy with a masterful theoretical overview which integrates diverse concepts from various therapy techniques such as psychoanalysis, client-centered therapy, transactional analysis, behavioral therapy and Gestalt therapy. The authors then use transcripts of actual therapy sessions with explanatory comments inserted to allow the reader to understand both the theory and its application in therapy, and also to capture some of the elusive essence of the ongoing therapy interview. Unique in its attention to detail as well as to the therapist's own decision making process and written in a highly readable style, advanced students and therapists will find this volume essential and absorbing reading.
