Psychothérapie Intégrative: Formations et ateliers
Applying Child Development Theory and Research in Psychotherapy
Richard G. Erskine & Amaia Mauriz-Etxabe
Sponsored by BIOS Psychotherapy Training Institute
This five-day workshop will focus on various methods of psychotherapy that are influenced by the theories and research in Child Development. Healing the neglects and traumas of childhood requires a psychotherapist who is attuned to each client’s levels of emotional and cognitive development. We will explore various child development hypotheses and concepts that are based on the writings of John Bowlby, Eric Erickson, Selma Fraiberg, Lawrence Kohlberg, Jean Piaget, Danial Stern, and Donald Winnicott as well as a number of current child development researchers.
Dr. Erskine will both teach about and demonstrate a variety of therapy methods that may include:
• creating developmental images and hypotheses;
• assessing and responding to unconscious attachment patterns;
• converting body sensations and affect to language;
• enabling the formation of vocabulary and concepts;
• constructing life narratives through inference;
• using phenomenological and historical inquiry, and
• facilitating an emotionally safe therapeutic age regression.
This workshop is for mental health professionals who want to refine their therapeutic attunement and skill by applying child development knowledge in clinical practice. The workshop will include: formal teaching about the various developmental concepts; live therapy demonstrations with some members of the group; active group discussions about the theory and methods used in the live therapy; and/or case discussions of participants’ clients.
