Therapeutic Age Regression: Remembering, Re-experiencing, or Reliving

Richard G. Erskine, PhD.

A 5-day Training and Experiential Seminar: Sunday, June 19 through Thursday, June 23, 2022
Domaine Les Fougeres, Mirmande, France (near Montelimar)

This professional development seminar is designed to provide the experienced psychotherapist, supervisor, and trainer with an experiential and dialogical forum to refine our knowledge about the therapeutic use of memory and supportive age regression in an in-depth psychotherapy. Sensitive therapeutic guidance is essential to ensure that age regression will be healing of the traumas and neglects of childhood and not reinforc-ing of archaic patterns of psychological organization.

Richard Erskine will make use of both a Child Developmental and Rela-tional
Perspectives in his teaching about how to:
• work with the client’s unconscious processes;
• identify and use implicit and procedural memories;
• identify various forms of age regression;
• formulate developmental images;
• use therapeutic inference;
• use various methods that facilitate the healing of relational disruptions;
• protectively differentiate between re-experiencing and reliving;
• titrate the level of therapeutic support according to the client’s capacity;
• ethically facilitate regressive psychotherapy.

This workshop is for experienced psychotherapists and counsellors who want to refine their professional understanding and therapy skills in facili-tating in-depth psychotherapy. Richard Erskine will do live therapy with some members of the group followed by active group discussions about the theory and methods used in the live therapy. Participants may bring cases from their own psychotherapy practice for supervision.

Attendance in this group is limited to those who have attended 5 or more workshops with Richard Erskine or by application and endorsement by a supervisor.
